Week 12 rapid reaction

The 'Boys looked good today. The commentators spoke of how the Dallas running attack had been lacking, but my response would be, "What kind of running attack do you need when T.O. has 212 receiving yards?" Marion Barber, by the way, had over a hundred yards, but about 50 of them were receiving yards.

I didn't get to see a lot of the game, but I did see enough to know that 13 of San Francisco's 22 points were "gimme" points that came in the fourth quarter when the Cowboys were up by enough that they didn't need to play defense.

So, with a win on Thanksgiving over the Seahawks, the Cowboys could be positioned for a wild card berth if they close out December with two wins out of four games (against Pittsburgh, NY Giants, Baltimore, and Philadelphia).

Tonight on Football Night in America, the discussion was about the NFC. Everyone agrees that the Giants are the best team in the NFC right now, but who's second? Jerome Bettis argued for Washington. The reasons he gave were 1) during "playoff season" (which we're in now) one of the most important elements of a team is its run defense, and 2) the other most important element of a team is its run offense, and according to Bettis, Washington is close to the top in both categories. Let me point out that Marion Barber ran all over Washington last week, and that the 'Skins almost lost to Seattle today. They're 7-4 and sliding.

Tiki Barber picked Atlanta as the number two team in the NFC right now. I think that's a respectable choice, and Barber's a very bright guy. I don't get to see Atlanta play very often, but they'd certainly be in the running in my book.

Cris Collinsworth said that hands down the second-best team in the NFC is the Dallas Cowboys right now, and after their last two games, I would agree.
